Finally MSN has pulled there finger out and added webmaster tools to their portfolio. It has only been opperational for a small while but I am signed up and have been testing the facility. Some of the things MSN allows you do is:

Validate your robots text:

This is a very useful tool so you dont acidently block MSN spiders from your website. I would advise all to use this tool when submitting a site via the MSN webmaster tools.

AfterVote calls itself a social search engine. It is a metasearch engine that presents results from Google, Yahoo and Live and shows you how each site ranks in these search engines as well as the Google PageRank and Alexa rank. The social aspect is that registered users can “vote up” a site among the result and post comments. These comments become visible in the search results. They will have to have a lot of active users before the social aspect gets really useful, though.

Yesterday Google declared war on Blogs that are selling multi page links. I added a small image link on CSS Remix and over 1000 pages had this link. Previously such behavior has been rewarded by Google with high page rank, although it would now appear that this loop hole may now be shut. I have noticed today that CSS Remix’s homepage has dropped from a pagerank of 7 to a 4 showing Google no longer accepts this kind of linking and is targeting the sellers of the links in my opinion, this is not documented proof but it is looking that way.

Google announces a simple new way to embed Google Maps

Starting today, Google Maps users can add a map to their website or blog just by copying & pasting a snippet of HTML. This new functionality enables Google Maps users to share and disseminate geographic information in the same way that YouTube users share videos. Bloggers and webmasters no longer need an API key or knowledge of Java Script to put a Google Map on their website or blog.
