I have been away in Krakow with friends over the weekend leaving in charge of the SEO department at Customer Street and realised just how many people round the world have access to the internet. I took an Apple iTouch with me and was supprised that most of the cafe’s have free wifi internet access.

This just shows how important it is to have a website if you own a business. People more and more are using the internet on the move and it is critical to the entire future of your business to get a website that will enhance you customerbase.

I found a quick and painless way to optimize a WordPress blog (or any blog with a feed for that matter) for use with a mobile phone. The trick is to use Google’s excellent mobile news readers to display your blog. The resulting content is not only lightning fast, it is also well formatted and relatively easy to navigate. To see for yourself, input the following URI in your browser.

google reader

http://www.google.com/reader/m/view/feed/[Your Feed URI]

Once you have the feed, just create a link on your blog for readers to follow and/or bookmark.

I recently bought an Apple iTouch. Having used it online it came to my attention that CustomerStreet only has one facility for using a mobile device in WAP screen size format from all our network of directories.

We are currently in development to add this facility to our directories. The site will auto detect what the user is viewing the site with (mobile, PDA and browser). This will then display our directories in the best possible format for the user.
