I recently bought an Apple iTouch. Having used it online it came to my attention that CustomerStreet only has one facility for using a mobile device in WAP screen size format from all our network of directories.

Apple iTouch

We are currently in development to add this facility to our directories. The site will auto detect what the user is viewing the site with (mobile, PDA and browser). This will then display our directories in the best possible format for the user.

Having looked at our stats on SmileLocal it is quite surprising how many people are now starting to use a mobile device to view our sites. Here are a few interesting browser stats for SmileLocal in the last week:

Playstation 3: 85 hits

Playstation Portable: 34 hits

Xda Orbit: 240×320: 13 hits

LG: 11 hits

Total hits: 143

Think of it like this: can you afford to miss out on potential visitors on a wireless device ?

Consider the number of mobile devices that are being sold every year. Consider that every new device adds a little new feature such as a bigger screen, better connectivity, more colors. We don’t want our visitors to see a black and white page without images if their mobile device supports jpeg images and lots of colors. If we have a tool like WURFL that lets us easily know all about a mobile device it is clear that providing a great user experience becomes a must.

Im sure I know the answer.CustomerStreet has realised that the future of the internet is going mobile so changes are being made to help us get the best possible coverage for all our clients who advertise on one of CustomerStreet’s directories.
