Yesterday Google declared war on Blogs that are selling multi page links. I added a small image link on CSS Remix and over 1000 pages had this link. Previously such behavior has been rewarded by Google with high page rank, although it would now appear that this loop hole may now be shut. I have noticed today that CSS Remix’s homepage has dropped from a pagerank of 7 to a 4 showing Google no longer accepts this kind of linking and is targeting the sellers of the links in my opinion, this is not documented proof but it is looking that way.
The AOL owned Weblogs Inc was not immune, with leading Gadget blog Engadget dropping from PR 7 to PR5 showing that google is taking no prisoners. Paid links are now extinct, in my opinion. When I hear more on the changes to this linking technique and the consequences ill let you know.
Here is a short list of those who have experienced a rapid PR drop:

Make sure your top scoring high performance pages include a call to action.
Build Legitimate Signals
The key to search engine optimisation is to remember that rankings are always changing, but the more you build up legitimate signals of trust and quality, the more often you will come out on top.
